FAQs: Everything You’ve Wanted to Ask About SeaAccess
At SeaAccess, we’re proud to be making the beach more inclusive—one ramp at a time. Whether you’ve seen our device in action or are hearing about it for the first time, we know people have questions. So we’ve pulled together the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about how SeaAccess works and how you can bring it to your local beach.
What is SeaAccess?
SeaAccess is a portable, remote-controlled ramp that provides people with restricted mobility safe and independent access to the water. It’s designed to be used on beaches, lakefronts, and other natural waterways—eliminating barriers and creating more inclusive outdoor experiences.
Who is SeaAccess for?
SeaAccess is designed for anyone with restricted mobility, including:
Wheelchair users
People using mobility aids like walkers or frames
Elderly people
Carers assisting others
Our goal is to ensure that everyone—regardless of ability—can experience the joy of getting into the water.
How does the ramp work?
SeaAccess features a folding ramp that extends from the shoreline into the water via remote control. The device is battery-powered and built from marine-grade aluminium, ensuring it’s lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and safe for beach environments. When not in use, it folds away neatly for secure storage.
Can SeaAccess be installed permanently?
Yes and no. SeaAccess was developed to be portable, which means it can be moved, stored, and installed as needed. However, councils or surf clubs can work with us to create more long-term, secure setups where the ramp is available regularly or seasonally.
Where can I try SeaAccess?
We regularly partner with councils, community groups, and water-based activity organisations like Disabled Water Skiing NSW to host demo days across Australia. Follow us on Instagram @seaaccessau to see where we’ll be next.
How do I get a SeaAccess ramp in my local area?
We work closely with local councils and government bodies to roll out SeaAccess in communities across Australia. If you’d like to refer us to your local council or need help starting the conversation, get in touch with us—we’d love to help.
Can I fundraise or partner with SeaAccess?
Absolutely. We welcome partnerships with councils, disability advocacy organisations, surf lifesaving clubs, and community groups who share our mission to make the beach accessible for all. Drop us a line via our contact form.
